Media monitoring and analysis: NHS South West
Client
The strategic health authority in the south west is responsible for 41 NHS organisations in the region, made up of acute, primary care, mental health and partnership and ambulance trusts. With hundreds of pieces of media coverage generated about these organisations every month, NHS South West appointed Freshwater to provide a media analysis service.
Objectives
- To assess the impact of all media coverage that refers to NHS organisations in the south west on a monthly basis.
Strategy and tactics
Freshwater analyses 1,000 - 2,000 media outputs each month, ranging from local to national print and broadcast coverage.
We use statistical, qualitative and graphical tools to demonstrate how NHS organisations in the south west are being perceived in the media and measure media coverage performance comparatively over time. In addition, we analyse the impact of particular campaigns, such as public health campaigns, as requested.
Results
Our analysis:
- alerts the strategic health authority to emerging themes and issues
- enables it to track the success of specific campaigns
- helps it to make decisions about resource priorities.
Case Studies
Much of our work is client sensitive or confidential, but if you would like more information we can supply anonymised case studies on request.
