Health problems such as obesity were costing the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust over £150m each year, so they were keen to encourage people to make healthy choices in a bid to tackle those problems and improve their health.
Freshwater worked with the Trust to devise a social marketing strategy that got local people involved in a search for the best ideas to make Cornwall healthier.
The work of Freshwater supported a number of highly success full initiatives such as the ‘Healthy Schools Programme’ which worked to create healthier school meals and lunchboxes, breakfast clubs and more physical activity for school children. The project was given the seal of approval when it won a major award at the NHS Health and Social Care Awards and was featured as a best practice social marketing case study in PR Week.
