Freshwater was responsible for devising and implementing the communications and engagement strategy for the West, North and East Cumbria Success Regime to support the CCG and local trusts in delivering a transformational reconfiguration programme. This work coincided with the CCG publishing its STP.
The support saw Freshwater deliver a wide scale pre-consultation engagement programme, followed by a 12-week consultation focused on significant potential changes to services including emergency and acute care, maternity and children’s services, stroke services, emergency surgery, trauma and orthopaedic services, and community hospital inpatient beds.
Engagement and consultation activity included public meetings, stakeholder update events, deliberative events, workshops and focus groups, as well as tailored activity to support seldom-heard (or hard-to-reach) groups and a travelling Healthwatch ‘chatty van’ visiting remote locations across the county.
As part of our activity, Freshwater managed the online presence for the programme, including producing content for two websites and managing its Twitter, Facebook and You Tube feeds.
In March 2017, the Consultation Institute confirmed that the Healthcare for the Future consultation in Cumbria successfully passed all six of the Institute’s quality checkpoints and Freshwater was issued with a Certificate of Good Practice for the way in which the consultation was run.
