Kirsty gets top marks
As a graduate trainee, Kirsty has been sponsored by Freshwater over the last year to undertake the part-time course to help her develop her skills as a public relations professional.
As part of her coursework, Kirsty explored issues such as the damaging effects social networking sites can have on brand reputation, and how this can be managed and mitigated by PR professionals. Kirsty looked at the real-life example of the Dominos Pizza YouTube scandal, where a film of employees tampering with customers’ food was posted online.
Kirsty said: “Although the course meant a lot of hard work at the weekends and after work, I really enjoyed it and learnt a huge amount about PR techniques and strategies. It has really helped look at campaigns from a different angle and bring new ideas to the table at meetings.”
Carolyn Pugsley, director for the Wales team, said: “This impressive result clearly demonstrates the growing level of PR expertise that Kirsty has been establishing, not only through academic study for her course, but also through her day-to-day work on the PR team.”
Anna Jamson, a graduate trainee from the Birmingham team also recently completed her Advanced Certificate, obtaining a Merit.
