Freshwater is looking for a talented and experienced Technical SEO Manager to join its digital team. Your role will be to develop and manage detailed technical SEO strategies across a range of well-known and competitive sectors.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive customer acquisition, conversion and retention, including SEO setup, monitoring, analysis and reporting.

The role will include producing detailed technical audits, implementing on site and off site optimisation, including planning and delivering outreach strategy.

You will work closely with Freshwater’s content teams to plan and develop SEO content, provide detailed keyword research, ensure best SEO practice and interpret, and report on, website data. You will also work with Freshwater’s developers to advise on, and implement, technical SEO requirements for website projects.

An in-depth understanding of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager tools is essential, as is the ability to interpret client objectives, define KPIs and provide strategic recommendations to clients.

You should be able to work independently and manage multiple client projects simultaneously, prioritising your work schedule accordingly.

The right candidate will be continually keeping up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and techniques, helping to educate colleagues and clients on relevant developments and opportunities.


The ideal candidate will: 

  • Competence and solid experience in SEO
  • Ideally have experience of working in an agency
  • Be analytical but demonstrate creativity
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant industry tools including Linkdex, Search Metrics, Moz, SEMRush and Majestic
  • Have a proven track record of improving organic search through linking building and SEO
  • Have a solid understanding of code, including PHP, JS, CSS and HTML
  • Have experience of working with multiple web platforms including WordPress,  Magento, Drupal and Umbraco
  • Be a competent communicator with strong writing skills
  • Be comfortable working autonomously on client briefs
  • Have advanced Excel skills including the use of VLookups, pivot tables and advanced formulae
  • Be proficient in Google Search Console, Analytics, Tag Manager and Trends.
